"Close your eyes. Your eyes can deceive you. We must not trust them."

Tenina Sha-Dand was a Tarsunt member of the Jedi Order. During the High Republic Era in 132 BBY, she was still a youngling and attended a class led by Jedi Master Sol in the Jedi Temple on the planet Coruscant. Sol had the students close their eyes and meditate while connecting with the Force. After several other students told Sol what they felt, Sol dismissed Sha-Dand and the other students for lunch.

Biography

"Connect to the Force. Have faith. Think of diving into a great ocean. Give yourselves over to its weight, its stillness, its uncertainty. And tell me what comes into your mind."

Tenina Sha-Dand was a Jedi youngling on Coruscant during the High Republic Era.

Tenina Sha-Dand was a Tarsunt who became a member of the Jedi Order during the High Republic Era. As a youngling, Sha-Dand produced sculptures during meditation as manifestations of her youthful energy.[1] In 132 BBY,[3] she and a class of other students were taught by Jedi Master Sol on one of the Jedi Temple's training verandas on the planet Coruscant. Sha-Dand sat near the back of the class[2] in a cross-legged meditation pose[1] and closed her eyes when Sol instructed the class to do so.[2]

The Jedi Master explained that the students' eyes could not be trusted, as they could be decieved, and so instead had them connect to the Force. When he then asked the students to tell him what they felt, Sha-Dand's classmates[2] Khari Sendo, Xilawa Dater, and Jev Eremia[1] all responded with their differing interpretations of the Force. In response to Eremia's interpretation of seeing the Force as fire, Sol explained that the Force was powerful like a fire or an ocean and so must be respected. Seeing that Jedi Master Vernestra Rwoh was waiting to speak to him, Sol then dismissed the class for lunch. Sha-Dand opened her eyes and stood, bowing to Rwoh before leading the class off the veranda while shepherded by[2] Jedi Knight Flurri Wiss[1] and another Jedi.[2] Sha-Dand partly shared her surname[1] with Tarsunt Resistance members Vober Dand and Ibdun Dand.[4]

Personality and traits

Tenina Sha-Dand was a shy individual, but this was bypassed by her youthful energy, which manifested in her sculptural works.[1] She had black eyes, gray skin, and brown hair.[2]

Equipment

During her lesson with Sol, Sha-Dand wore tan Jedi robes with a brown belt and brown shoes.[2] The belt's gray buckle bore a seal of the late High Republic.[1]

Behind the scenes

Tenina Sha-Dand appeared in "Lost / Found,"[2] the first episode of the live-action television series Star Wars: The Acolyte, which aired on Disney+ on June 4, 2024.[5] She was first named in the 2025 reference book Star Wars: The Acolyte: The Visual Guide, which was written by Pablo Hidalgo.[1]
