Dormitz was an individual who served in the navy of the militant political faction known as the First Order, successor of the Galactic Empire. Holding the rank of junior lieutenant,[1] Dormitz worked as a pilot and hypercomm specialist, at one point flying an Upsilon-class command shuttle near a Resurgent-class Star Destroyer as well as over Starkiller Base.[2]

In 34 ABY,[3] Dormitz was stationed aboard the Resurgent-class Star Destroyer Silencer, which had been dispatched alongside Captain Phasma to patrol a hyperspace transit point between the Unknown Regions and the Core Worlds in search of Resistance spies.[1]

This section of the article assumes a specific path in the roleplaying adventure Discovery on Jakku. Alternate paths may be noted in the "Behind the scenes" section. The events in this section may or may not have been confirmed as canonical.

While on patrol, the Silencer encountered the quadjumper Sunstrider and towed the ship to one of its hangar bays, where two stormtroopers brought the ship's crew of adventurers to Dormitz in the adjacent waiting area for inspection. Unwilling to expose that they had indeed obtained intel on Jakku that they planned to deliver to the Resistance, the adventurers overpowered Dormitz, retrieving their equipment and seeking to escape the Silencer.[1]

Behind the scenes

Dormitz was first mentioned in the Star Wars: The Force Awakens Beginner Game released by Fantasy Flight Games in 2016.[4] In one encounter, the players are captured by the First Order and held aboard the Resurgent-class Star Destroyer Silencer, and they must first defeat Dormitz—who is accompanied by two stormtroopers if the players are suspected to be Resistance operatives—to escape. The game identifies the character by he/him pronouns;[1] however, an article published on Fantasy Flight Games' website in 2018 refers to Dormitz as she/her.[5]
