"Get me my credits by sunrise, Han... or you're gonna lose much more than a race."
―Johnair threatening Han[1]

Johnair was a male Dowutin who lived on the planet Corellia during the Imperial Era. He raced Han Solo in speeders in order win 10,000 credits. Early in the race, Johnair's speeder was damaged by Moloch's speeder, forcing Johnair to finish the race on foot.[1]

Biography

"Where're my credits, Han?"
"You know, I still don't have 'em. Funny, right?"

Han and Johnair prepare to race

At some point by 13 BBY,[2] Johnair was present on the planet Corellia and agreed to race the scrumrat Han in Coronet City for a reward of 10,000 credits if the Dowutin won. While Han and his friend Pace worked on Han's M-68 landspeeder, Johnair arrived at the start of the race in a landspeeder of their own. The Dowutin hopped out of their speeder and asked Han if he had the prize money with him, Han assured Johnair he had the money and patted a bag in the passenger seat of the speeder. Upon seeing the money, Johnair grabbed the side of Han's speeder and got close to him and said they can start the race. Hopping back into their speeder, both teams started their engines and looked at eachother.[1]

A Twi'lek walked in front of the two speeders and held a blaster pistol in the air, counting down the start of the race. Behind them, Moloch of the White Worms syndicate quickly approached Han in a A-A4B truckspeeder. Quickly realizing this, Han started his speeder before the Twi'lek initiated the start of the race. Johnair stood up in their speeder and yelled to Han, stating that she did not tell them to go yet, but before he could finish his exclaimation, Moloch sped past Johnair, sending their speeder spinning out of control until it crashed. As their competitor was being chased by Moloch, Johnair abandoned their speeder and completed the race on foot, beating Han.[1]

Johnair later met back with Han, announcing his victory against the human. The Dowutin demanded the 10,000 credits Han had promised, pushing past him and grabbing the satchel. They dumped out its contents as Han confessed in reality what he had was only a couple of credits and some lug nuts. Johnair growled and threatened Han to bring the promised amount by sunrise or he would lose more than the race. Han attempted to retrieve the sum of credits by pulling a heist at Corellia Tower, but failed. As an apology to Pace, he smuggled him in a shipping container headed toward Kethmandi. As he watched the container be loaded on to an Imperial starship, Johnair forcefully grabbed Han and demanded the credits. Han smiled at Johnair and joked about not having them. The Dowutin began to growl loudly before being shot by Moloch with a stun blast, incapacitating them. Han was then taken by Moloch and the White Worms.[1]

Personality and traits

"All right, Han. You got the 10,000?"
"Right here, Johnair."
"Then let's race."
―Johnair and Han before their race[1]

A large Dowutin, Johnair had brown skin. They had a strong presence and would race for money. When Han did not have the promised amount of credits, Johnair threatened Han if the credits were not received. They also growled when upset.[1]

Skills and abilities

"I ran the race without you. On foot. And you lost. Now give me my 10,000 credits!"
―Johnair[1]

Johnair was capable of piloting a landspeeder and was able to complete the speeder race on foot when their speeder was disabled. They could also leap high enough to get into their landspeeder.[1]

Equipment

The Dowutin wore a long-sleeved off-yellow shirt with grey cuffs under a stained grey vest with a zipper. Johnair also wore a brown belt with a silver-colored buckle to hold up their off-yellow pants with brown knee pads. They were in possession of a tan-colored landspeeder to race.[1]

Behind the scenes

Johnair appeared in "The Chase with Han," the first part of the second episode of the non-canon animated series LEGO Star Wars: All-Stars,[1] which was released on November 17, 2018.[3] They were voiced by James Patrick Stuart.[1]

Creators Bill Motz and Bob Roth named Johnair after podcasters Aaron Goins and Johnamarie Macias. The pair host Star Scavengers, a Lego Star Wars podcast that primarily reviewed the canon adjacent Lego Star Wars tv show, The Freemaker Adventures.

Whilst it is unknown whether Johnair will ever return to screens, Aaron Goins has speculated on Twitter, positing his belief that Johnair was perhaps trying to finance a rebel cell or earn a living for his family. Bob Roth (perhaps somewhat jovially) commented that the characters 'waters run deep' and that there were 'Many stories to tell'.
