Fry was a human[1] that was conscripted into the First Order during his childhood[2] and proceeded to serve within its forces as a stormtrooper belonging to Company 77 until his defection at the Battle of Ansett Island, where his entire company refused to comply with their orders to fire on civilians and subsequently deserted, subsequently settling on the ocean moon of Kef Bir. Fry, however, would suffer from nightmares where he imagined the First Order coming for Company 77 to take them back, causing him to doubt his own bravery, despite insistence to the contrary by his leader Jannah. To prove his courage, Fry attempted to enter the ruins of the DS-2 Death Star II Mobile Battle Station, but was approached by the Espirion Saan, who attempted to discourage him from his foolhardy endeavour. Fry ignored these warnings, however, and entered the remains of the superweapon, only to be attacked by a creature that Saan proceeded to save him from, revealing her identity, then disappearing after Jannah arrived and scolded her fellow Company 77 member. While speaking with Fry, Jannah told him that all of their company suffered from the same fears of being captured by the First Order as he was.[1]
