"My duty is to kill all enemies of the Republic."
―Faie[8]

Faie was a clone trooper commander who served in the Grand Army of the Republic under Jedi Generals Oppo Rancisis, Quinlan Vos, and others, during the height of the Clone Wars. Commander Faie served within the 7th Legion, as well as his own battle group during the Battle of Kashyyyk.

Grown on the planet Kamino from the DNA of the prime clone Jango Fett, the basis of the clone trooper army,[1] Faie was one of the first hundred clone trooper commanders put through ARC trooper Alpha-17's training program.[3] Commander Faie served during the Siege of Saleucami under the leadership of multiple Jedi Generals, including Oppo Rancisis, Aayla Secura, and Quinlan Vos. Faie served alongside Marshal Commander CC-5052 "Bly" and his 327th Star Corps,[5] as part of its 7th Legion,[3] along with the 91st Mobile Recon Corps and its Marshal Commander CC-8826 "Neyo."[9]

During the five—month siege,[10][11] Commander Faie was stationed at the Republic base and ensured that General Rancisis's quarters were ready. Faie was present outside when the Separatist Alliance's forces assassinated the general.[12] Eventually, the Republic emerged victorious on Saleucami when the Morgukai Shadow Army cloning facilities were destroyed by an orbital bombardment from the Republic fleet and the death of the Dark Jedi, Sora Bulq.[13]

Following the Siege of Saleucami, Faie was dispatched to the Wookiee homeworld, Kashyyyk,[8] and placed in command of a battle group that was composed of a battalion of clone scout troopers from the 501st Legion, a troop of clone commandos, and light aerial cavalry from the 7th Aleena Reconnaissance Regiment.[7] During Faie's time on Kashyyyk he was placed under the command of Quinlan Vos,[8] and worked with Jedi General Luminara Unduli[8] and her 41st Elite Corps.[6]

Hunting the Jedi

"I'm calling down an airstrike, Vos. Kill you, me, that Wookiee village nearby - everyone. One big crater unless you surrender yourself and die. I've got my duty and I'll see it done!"

When the Separatists moved against the city of Kachirho, Faie,[4] Commander CC-1004 "Gree", and the Jedi were there to meet them. As the fighting for the city intensified, both Gree[14] and Faie received Order 66 directly from Supreme Chancellor Palpatine himself. Acting without hesitation, Faie and his clone troops moved against Generals Vos and Undulli before they could catch wind of what was going on. Only Vos escaped with his life.[2] After the death of Gree,[14] the burden of orchestrating the defense of Kashyyyk and hunting down the surviving Jedi fell upon Faie's shoulders.[2]

Faie's search for the fugitive Vos took him and the clone troopers of Bogey Squad deep into the heart of Kashyyyk's thick forests, where he demanded that Vos reveal himself and face justice, or Faie would call in an orbital bombardment that would destroy himself, the Jedi, and a nearby village of innocent Wookiees. Knowing that Faie planned to raze the village even if he managed to kill Vos, the Jedi leapt from the trees, lightsaber at the ready. Despite Faie managing to shoot the Jedi in the chest, the shot didn't prove fatal. Vos killed the clone commander with a single stroke of his weapon.[2]

Personality and traits

"I am giving you a direct order, Commander. Which order takes precedence?"
"Generals in the field take precedence, sir.

Commander Faie was the ideal clone envisioned by the Kaminoan cloners on Kamino and embodied by the vast majority of the Clone Army.[15] He abided by a strict adherence to the Command Code. Unlike some of his brethren, he showed little interest in developing himself as an individual and strictly maintained himself as—what all clones were created to be—a soldier bred to fight and die for the Republic.[8] Faie disliked the Jedi Order and his by-the-book personality often put him at odds with his Jedi superiors. This was especially true with the Jedi General Quinlan Vos, whom Faie deeply disliked. [4]

Faie followed orders, no matter his personal stance on that matter, though he preferred to make his feelings known. [8] Faie's obedience was so extreme he was perfectly willing to kill himself and an entire Wookiee village via orbital bombardment just to fulfill Order 66 and eliminate his former superior officer, General Vos.[2]

Commander Faie, like other clone troopers, owned a set of clone trooper armor. Faie wore multiple sets though the war, including white phase II clone armor with the helmet of a clone engineer. This armor featured the markings of the 7th Legion, and he wore a white tunic and cape alongside it.[3] Faie also utilized a separate set of white phase II armor with the yellow markings of the 7th Legion's parent unit, the 327th Star Corps. In this armor, Faie was equipped with an orange pauldron, a beige kama, and dual pistol holsters.[8] For his operations on Kashyyyk, Faie adopted a standard green camouflaged set of clone scout armor.[4]

Behind the scenes

Clone Commander Faie first appeared in Republic 74, a comic issue that was released on March 23, 2005.[16] Faie was created for and initially slated to appear in Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith as a speeder pilot on Saleucami. However, this clone was later switched to the Neyo model and as a result the Faie model never appeared in the film.[17]

Faie was named after Art Department Supervisor Fay David.[17]
