Epic Games is an interactive entertainment company.[1] It has been involved with the Star Wars franchise over the years indirectly, through the uses of their own Unreal Engine on various interactive products, and directly,[4] with collaboration on their games Fortnite[5] and Rocket League,[6] on the television series Star Wars: The Mandalorian,[7] and on Star Wars attractions at Disney Parks.[4]
On February 7, 2024, it was announced that The Walt Disney Company and Epic Games were entering an major agreement over an investment of 1.5 billion dollars in Epic Games equity shares, along with a planned project under the umbrella of Fortnite to create new games and a persistent, innovative and shared entertainment universe linking the franchises owned by Disney, including Star Wars.[4]
