Fema Baab was a Human female loyalist senator who represented the Bajic sector in the Galactic Senate during the last days of the Galactic Republic. She was one of the most loyal supporters of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine during the Clone Wars. Baab was unsuccessful in her attempts to insinuate into Senator Bail Prestor Organa's inner circle and work with critics of Palpatine's work as Supreme Chancellor. After the Battle of Coruscant in 19 BBY, she enthusiastically greeted Palpatine on the planet Coruscant after he was rescued by Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker.
Biography
Fema Baab, a Human female, was a young and inexperienced loyalist senator from the Bajic sector who served in the Galactic Senate during the final days of the Galactic Republic, representing Bajic.[1] During the Clone Wars,[2] a galaxy-wide conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems,[3] she was one of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine's most loyal supporters. For the sake of diplomacy and bridging partisan gaps,[1] she attempted to insinuate herself into[2] Senator[1] Bail Prestor Organa's inner circle of concerned senators[2] and work with him, Senator Mon Mothma, and other critics of Palpatine's work as chancellor.[1] Baab was unsuccessful[2] and never was able to fully insinuate herself, as some individuals believed to her to be a spy for Palpatine.[1]
Fema Baab, along with other loyalist senators, greeted Palpatine.
In 19 BBY,[4] right after the Battle of Coruscant, Baab and other[5] loyalist senators[1] gathered on a landing platform of the Republic Executive Building[6] on[5] the planet[6] Coruscant to greet Palpatine after his rescue by Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker. When Palpatine exited the Jedi shuttlebus he arrived in, Baab and other senators moved forward to him then walked behind him into the Senate Building.[5] She was enthusiastic in her greeting of the Supreme Chancellor.[1]
Personality and traits
Fema Baab had brown eyes, braided black hair, and dark skin. She attempted to work with Mon Mothma and Bail Organa in the name of diplomacy and bridging partisan gaps,[1] but was unsuccessful.[2] Baab enthusiastically greeted Palpatine when he returned to Coruscant.[1]
Skills and abilities
Baab was inexperienced in her role as senator.[1]
Equipment
Baab wore a black dress with a high collar while at the Republic Executive Building[5] in 19 BBY.[4]
Behind the scenes
Fema Baab first appeared in the 2005 prequel trilogy film Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith,[5] where the character was portrayed by Olive Levi.[1] The character's hair was styled by hairdresser Pip Lund,[7] and the landing platform scenes that included Levi were shot at Fox Studios, Sydney on July 22, 2003.[8] During preproduction of the film, designs for Baab were identified as "Female Senator," which became the basis of her name.[1] Baab was first mentioned prior to the film's release in a Prequel Update article in the seventy-second issue of the magazine Star Wars Insider,[7] which released on November 14, 2003.[9]
