An Ethrani ourobouros was a creature[2] from the Ethrani system[1] of the Valahari sector, a part of the D'Astan sector of the Outer Rim Territories[3] and the New Territories.[4] Ethrani ourobouroi were known for devouring their own tails.[2] During a battle near the planet Coruscant[2] in 19 BBY,[5] the leader of the Confederacy of Independent Systems Dooku—secretly apprentice to the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Sidiousmentally compared his master's plan to convert Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker to their side by killing his mentor Obi-Wan Kenobi to an Ethrani ourobouros consuming its own tail.[2]

Behind the scenes

Ethrani ourobouroi were mentioned in the novelization[2] to the prequel trilogy film Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith,[6] which was released on May 19, 2005.[7] The novelization was written by Matthew Stover and was released on April 2, 2005.[8]
