Camp Karnori

Camp Karnori, also known as Espelar, was a settlement on Tatooine during the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire. Located in the northern end of the Jundland Wastes, just south of Anchorhead, Camp Karnori was a Human outpost directly next to a Jawa trading camp.

History

Around the year 3643 BBY, Camp Karnori was run by Mayor Airen, and the Anchorhead militia assigned to the settlement was led by Junter Galt. Espelar also had a trading post to the west, just north of Dreviad Outpost and beyond the Bak'arap Farmstead. This trading post was attacked by a team of Imperial saboteurs after its defenses were destroyed by a sandstorm, but the saboteurs were stopped by a Republic-allied individual. This individual, who had been asked to help out by the former Jedi Galen Besk, traveled to Camp Karnori and informed Mayor Airen about the Imperial attack.^[2]

Airen was grateful for the individual's help, and asked them to speak to Galt. Galt asked the individual to help train the settlement's militia, and the individual led the recruits—including Vastil—against the Sand People. After they returned to Galt, the group received a distress call from the militia's nearby Manister Base, which had been overrun by a Geonosian hive. The individual led the recruits in rescuing the militia forces from the base, and sent the recruits and the militia south to Outpost Largona for medical attention while they held off the Geonosians.^[2] A portion of the Geonosians on Tatooine were working alongside the Empire, via the Sith Vaverone Zare and the Imperial Colonel Gorik.^[2] It's possible the hive's earlier connection to the Empire may have contributed to the timing of the Geonosian attack on Manister Base.

Thanks to the individual's efforts, the area became far more protected and stable. Several other residents of the town included Jerol Nex, Dak Williks, Prnthik, Krikit, and Renishi.^[1]

Behind the scenes

Camp Karnori was created for Star Wars: The Old Republic, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game released by BioWare on December 20, 2011. It appears as one of the Republic settlements on the planet Tatooine. Camp Karnori's trading post and many of its inhabitants appear in the Republic Tatooine Bonus Series of missions.^[1]

On the map, it appears as Camp Karnori, but the taxi station is labeled Espelar Settlement.
