The entrenching tool was a type of shovel used for digging trenches, the creation of campsites, and the establishment of defensive structures. It was versatile and could be used as a melee weapon, making it extremely valuable in wilderness areas.[1]

Behind the scenes

The entrenching tool was first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in Forged in Battle,[1] a 2016 sourcebook for the Star Wars: Age of Rebellion roleplaying game published by Fantasy Flight Games.[2] It originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned in Galaxy at War, a 2009 hardcover supplement for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game Saga Edition Core Rulebook published by Wizards of the Coast.[3]
