"Hooked fuel cell up to spare Eksoan power generator, my grid of portable fuel cells/TIE panels."
―Rey mentions Eksoan rind in her survival guide[3]

Eksoan was a company that manufactured power generators including the Class-4T3 power generator[1] and the Class-5B1 duplex power generator.[2] During the Galactic Civil War, the Galactic Empire used the Eksoan Class-4T3 to power its BlasTech Industries E-Web heavy repeating blaster cannons, although the generators were prone to overheat in a spectacular way unless closely monitored.[1]

While living in the wrecked Imperial All Terrain Armored Transport Hellhound Two on the desert planet Jakku during the New Republic Era, the scavenger Rey hooked the fuel cell from the walker's blaster cannon energizer up to an Eksoan power generator that was attached to[3] a homemade[4] grid of TIE series solar collectors and other fuel cells.[3] She[2] mentioned the company on a note she added to a blueprint of the walker included in her survival guide[3] by 34 ABY.[5] The Empire's successor, the First Order, used the Eksoan Class-5B1 duplex power generator to power its Sonn-Blas Corporation FWMB-10 repeating blasters.[2]

Behind the scenes

In the current Star Wars canon, Eksoan was first mentioned in Rey's Survival Guide, a 2015 replica journal written by Jason Fry.[3] In the 2019 reference book Ultimate Star Wars, New Edition, Eksoan is mispelt as "Ekspan."[6] The company originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned in the Imperial Sourcebook, a 1989 supplement for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game written by Greg Gorden and published by West End Games.[7]
