- "About 20 years ago, there was a good summer for breeding and all kinds of creatures started showing up."
- ―A commoner, to a spacer
Durbin was a village located on the Twin World of Talus. After being overrun by wild creatures, it was known as the Lost Village of Durbin.
Description
- "My dad said it was just a ways off from here. I'll mark the area on your datapad."
- ―A commoner, to a spacer
Located in the Akazi Plains, east of Lake Bondoma, the village of Durbin was surrounded by a winding river and a tall hill which was capped with a small geyser. This geyser was surrounded by a number of berserk kahmurra.[1]
History
- "I inherited a farm recently, but it's been overrun by all manners of creatures. I can't handle them myself, but if you can help clear them, I let you have any of the resources that are there."
- ―A commoner, to a spacer
The village of Durbin was once a growing settlement.[1] However, around 19 BBY,[2][3] the village was overrun by a horde of wild sludge panthers. Those who did not escape suffered a grisly demise, as evidenced by the number of skeletons strewn about the now abandoned village. It continued to be dangerously overrun by sludge panthers throughout the Galactic Civil War.[1]
Following the Battle of Yavin in 0 BBY, intrepid spacers would brave the now derelict village in order to either hunt the sludge panthers, or pillage the village of any remaining loot.[1] Mysteriously, one spacer collected an acid sword named after Rodian hunter Sordaan Xris. The sword was found impaled in the skeletal remains of one of the deceased villagers.[4]
When the creatures invaded the village, a farmer was forced to abandon the farm he had built in Durbin.[2] In 1 ABY,[3] the farmer died and his son inherited the farm. The farmer's son requested a spacer to eliminate all the creatures in Lost Village of Durbin, to honor memory of the farmer.[2]

- ↑ 3.0 3.1 The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
