Durang fruit

Durang fruit was a fruit once eaten half-rancid by Leia Organa. According to her, when it was half-rancid, it tasted how death smelled.^[1] Decades later, the fruit was used for fruit jelly^[2] served in Takodana Castle.^[3]

Behind the scenes

A durang fruit first appeared as a background prop in Takodana Castle in Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, a film released in December 2015. It was not identified in the film, but was named in the reference book Star Wars: The Visual Encyclopedia, released in April 2017.
