The duracrete worm was a large silica parasite which was found on the planet Coruscant.[1]
This parasite was a large (three to five meters long), slow-moving helminth, or parasitic worm. They occupied the lower portions of buildings, eating through foundations and plumbing. They reproduced by parthenogenesis. They also had primitive eyes, sensory tentacles near the mouth, and rasping teeth under the snout.[1] They were similar in appearance to the duracrete slugs.
Sometimes they are hunted by hive rats.[1]
Behind the scenes
Their design was reused to create the duracrete slugs that first appeared in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones: The Visual Dictionary.[2]
According to Robert E. Barnes, the duracrete slug is a "species-shift" from the duracrete worm, with the main difference between the two being that instead of having a soft/slimy skin, the duracrete slug has an armored skin developed from consuming and excreting duracrete and also is also bigger.[2]
