Droideka Sentinels,[1] also known simply as Sentinels, were an advanced[2] variation of a droideka modified by smugglers to protect contraband. Like its predecessor, the Sentinel was equipped with two blaster cannons, but had better firepower due to combat improvement. During the Galactic Civil War, both the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance utilized it as a security droid. To turn the sentinel into a de facto turret, both the Imperials and rebels could base a sentinel atop a Droideka Platform.[1]
