Dried kelp strips were a type of food item served in the chow hall of Republic Mobile Surgical Unit 7, a field hospital located on the planet Drongar during the Clone Wars.[1] In 20 BBY,[2] the Mirialan Padawan Barriss Offee once ate a breakfast of grainmush cakes, poptree syrup, and dried kelp strips.[1]

Dried kelp strips first appeared in MedStar I: Battle Surgeons, a 2004 Clone Wars novel written by Steve Perry and Michael Reaves as the first part of the MedStar Duology.[1]
