Drethi were a type of creature that had wings. During the dedication of the Starlight Beacon space station[1] in 232 BBY,[2] Jedi Master Elzar Mann met Jedi archivist OrbaLin for the first time and was left with the impression that the archivist was capable of boring the wings off a Drethi. Shortly before the start of the Outer Rim planet Valo's Republic Fair[1] in 231 BBY,[2] OrbaLin traveled to the world to attend the festivities. As Mann watched his colleague arrive, he remembered his impression of the archivist's capabilities.[1]
Behind the scenes
In the current Star Wars canon, Drethi were mentioned in the 2021 novel The High Republic: The Rising Storm, written by Cavan Scott[1] for the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase I.[3] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, Drethi were introduced as winged, Jedi-killing beasts in "Jedi's Legacy," a pick-your-own-path adventure written by S. John Ross that was included in the tenth issue of the Star Wars Gamer magazine. The issue was published by Wizards of the Coast[4] on May 7, 2002.[5]
