Doreen was a waterworld located in the Doreen system of the Senex sector, a part of the Senex-Juvex region in the Western Reaches portion of the Mid Rim. Situated near the Tangles area of the sector, the planet was linked via hyperlanes to the Kalgo and Usnia systems. The surface of Doreen featured gentle waters and scattered islands.[1]
Doreen was home to a type of titanic cetacean that vomited up Doreenian ambergris, a substance that was valued by many offworld perfumers. The ambergris was commonly found floating on the water or washed ashore on the perimeter of Doreen's islands. Consequently, gangs of scavengers and smugglers equipped with skimmers plagued the planet, and the security forces of House Petro, one of the Senex-Juvex's aristocratic Ancient Houses, hunted them.[1]
Behind the scenes
Doreen was introduced in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, authored by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, which placed it in grid square L-18.[1]
