- "The history of the Sith, and those serving them, had been one of accidental arrival and exile."
- ―Grand Lord Varner Hilts, Testament of Varner Hilts
The Discovery of Korriban was the arrival of the Dark Jedi Exiles on the Sith species's homeworld of Korriban, eventually leading to the creation of the Sith Empire.
History
Discovery of Korriban
Following the defeat of the Dark Jedi at the Battle of Corbos, the Jedi banished a number of captives to uncharted space aboard a galleon. The captives were known as the Exiles, an assortment of Dark Jedi led by high-ranking Force-sensitives such as Remulus Dreypa, Ajunta Pall, Karness Muur, XoXaan, and Sorzus Syn. With the guidance of the latter, the Exiles' flight into the unknown was not without direction; after years of cataloging rumors and extracting information from refugees, Syn eventually led the Dark Jedi to the planet Korriban. The twelve surviving Exiles made landing at the Valley of Sleeping Kings on the world, and they were greeted by the native Sith species.[2]
Legacy
By subjugating the Sith species[2] following the Discovery of Korriban,[4] the exiled Jedi Knights found a haven on Korriban for practising the dark side of the Force, plotting and waiting to exact their revenge on the Jedi in the meantime.[3] The Sith eventually submitted to the Dark Jedi exiles and the two groups interbred, laying the foundations of the Sith Empire.[5]
Sorzus Syn later wrote of the event in her chronicle, which was later collected by Darth Sidious into his Book of Sith. Syn considered the Exiles' arrival to be solidified by their triumph over the Sith species.[2] An account of the Discovery of Korriban was also recorded in scripture and existed as a memorabilia of the reconstituted Sith Empire.[4]
