Behind the scenes

The Delva Racine original hanging sleeve dress first appeared in the 1977 original trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.[2] It was first named in Gadgets and Gear, a roleplaying supplementary sourcebook for the Star Wars Roleplaying series that was published by Fantasy Flight Games in 2019.[1]

For the A New Hope, the dress was made of white silk and was given a more formal and formfitting look than the white gown which Leia had worn earlier in the film. The turtleneck costume was also removed to allow for a lower-cut necklace in order to make room for her chalcedony waves necklace. Early concept art of the dress had been drawn by John Mullo and the dress was made by a company known as Bermans in conjunction with a French dresser.[7]
