The Defense of Yavin medal was the first major campaign medal that was issued by the Alliance Military. The medal was awarded to all army and naval personnel who was present at the Battle of Yavin. The medal was characterized by a bronze-colored disc with diagonal copper and gold bands that depicted the planet Yavin Prime and was suspended from a long, tapering gold ribbon with red and brown stripes. The rack ribbon that was issued with the medal was a horizontal gold bar with red and brown stripes at the ends. It was often worn alongside the Death Star medal.[1]
