The Defense of Hoth medal was a campaign medal that was given to all Alliance Military personnel who were assigned to the Echo Base on the planet Hoth, and participated in the Battle of Hoth to evacuate the base after it was discovered by the Imperial Navy. The medal consisted of a simple round medallion that was likened to Hoth and was suspended from a tapering white ribbon with a thin blue line and silver stripes along its edges.[1]
The rack ribbon was a horizontal white ribbon with silver and blue stripes on its edges, and a black starbird in the center, which signified the loss of the Rebel Alliance base and the personnel that were killed in its defense.[1]
