The Death Star Summit, as designated in the Imperial Archives, was a high-level assembly of the Joint Chiefs of the Imperial Military, convened in a conference chamber aboard the Death Star shortly prior to the obliteration of Alderaan[1] in 0 BBY.[2] During this pivotal summit, Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin formally announced the dissolution of the Imperial Senate, signaling the Galactic Empire's shift to direct rule through military might. The meeting was notably marred by a confrontation between Admiral Conan Antonio Motti and Darth Vader, which escalated when Vader used the Force to strangle Motti, only relenting at Tarkin's request.[3] By the time historian Beaumont Kin published his account, The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire, sometime after the Battle of Exegol in 35 ABY, few traces of the summit remained. Official documents euphemistically cited a "difference of strategic opinion" between Motti and Vader, and only two purported images of the event survived. Additionally, a heavily redacted incident report filed by Motti was archived, offering scant insight into the altercation.[1]
