The Heart of Dathomir nebula in Dathomir's Vitality
Dathomir's Vitality was a quadrant of space in the Dathomir system. It contained the dangerous red-pulsating nebula known as the Heart of Dathomir. It was believed by the adepts of the Dark Veil Order that a powerful rage existed within the living nebula. Its power was held to be so great that only the sacrifice of sentient beings could calm its rage. Pilots of the Dark Veil Order controlled Dathomir's Vitality and ambushed starships moving through the quadrant in order to sacrifice the captured beings to the Heart of Dathomir.[1]
Behind the scenes
Dathomir's Vitality appeared in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[2] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[3] Dathomir's Vitality was added to the game with the release of the expansion pack Jump to Lightspeed on October 27, 2004.[2] The 2008 reference book The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia incorrectly stated that Dathomir's Vitality was a knot of rage located at the center of the Heart of Dathomir nebula.[4] In the game, Dathomir's Vitality was just the name of the space quadrant containing the nebula.[2]
