The Heart of Dathomir nebula
Adepts of the Dark Veil Order worshiped the infamous Heart of Dathomir, a nebula located near the planet Dathomir.[3] They believed that a powerful knot of rage existed within the living nebula, with a power so great that only the sacrifice of sentient beings could calm the nebula's rage. Pilots of the Dark Veil Order controlled Dathomir's Vitality, the quadrant of space containing the Heart of Dathomir, and ambushed any starships that traveled in the area. These unfortunate victims were acquired in order to be sacrificed to the Heart of Dathomir. Their reason for doing so was due to their belief that the sacrifices would fuel life into the palpitating mass of the nebula and protect the Dark Veil Order from infidels.[1]

The Dark Veil Order was a matriarchal organization; adepts were known as sisters.[3] They were ruled by a queen that they served with passionate ferocity.[1]
During the Galactic Civil War, Dark Veil Order pilots controlled the Dathomir's Vitality quadrant of the Dathomir system, encircling the Heart of Dathomir nebula, but they were also present in other part of the system such as the Emperor's Hand quadrant.[1] After the Battle of Yavin, these pilots were led by an individual known as Reverend Oni'antae Soli-nacae.[2] They were organized in different units dubbed Sitaela Fighters, T'raenyan Bombers and Vin'ticula Bounty Hunters.[1] Dark Veil Order adepts usually flew Kihraxz assault fighters, Ixiyen-class fast attack crafts and Rihkxyrk assault fighters.[4]
Behind the scenes
The Dark Veil Order appeared in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[4] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[5] The Dark Veil Order was added to the game with the release of the expansion pack Jump to Lightspeed on October 27, 2004.[4]
In the game, Void Wings pilots incorrectly used the same models and taunt sentences than the Dark Veil Order pilots, erroneously mentioning their cult of the Heart of Dathomir.[6]
