- "You're an honorable officer, from a proud Core World family. There's never been any question in Thrawn's mind that he can trust you."
- ―Commander Voss Parck, to Captain Dagon Niriz
The Human Captain Dagon Niriz, who served the Galactic Empire's navy as the commander of the Imperial I-class Star Destroyer Admonitor, belonged to a Core World family.[1]
In 2 ABY,[3] Imperial Grand Admiral[1] Mitth'raw'nuruodo, core name "Thrawn,"[4] tested Niriz's loyalty to him during a skirmish against the Ebruchi pirates. After the defeat of the Ebruchi forces, Imperial Commander Voss Parck told Niriz that Thrawn trusted him, remarking that the captain was a member of a proud Core World family.[1] Eventually, Niriz became a member of Thrawn's Empire of the Hand.[2]
Behind the scenes
The family first appeared in the short story "Command Decision," written by Timothy Zahn and published in Star Wars Adventure Journal 11 in November, 1996.[1]
