- "Hurts…"
"It's okay. Hold onto me. We started this together. We'll end it together. I won't leave you." - ―DB-7197 and KM-8713
DB-7197 was a human stormtrooper of the First Order. He fought in Captain Phasma's attack on the iron planet Demir but was fatally wounded. Fellow trooper KM-8713 tried to save DB-7197, but when a thermal detonator threatened Phasma's life, she threw the injured trooper onto the explosive, killing him while saving herself. KM-8713 and Phasma later discussed DB-7197's worth as a soldier.
History
- "What are you doing? Leave him."
"I…I can bring him. He won't slow us down."
"That was an order, KM-8713. Not a suggestion." - ―Phasm and KM-8713
DB-7197 was a[3] human[2] who served the First Order as a stormtrooper. He went through basic training with fellow trooper KM-8713.[3] Sometime between 25 ABY and 34 ABY,[1] DB-7197 participated in the First Order Army's assault on the iron planet Demir, serving under Captain Phasma. After DB-7197 received a wound to his chest during the conflict, KM-8713 discovered the fallen trooper. KM-8713 assisted DB-7197 to his feet and offered words of encouragement.[3]
DB-7197 was wounded on the planet Demir.
Upon witnessing the two, Phasma instructed KM-8713 to leave DB-7197 behind, then clarified it as an order after KM-8713 protested. A Demirian ambushed the group but was killed by KM-8713's blaster fire. The fallen Demirian dropped an active thermal detonator, which prompted Phasma to throw DB-7197's body atop the grenade at the protest of her subordinates, sacrificing DB-7197's life to save Phasma and KM-8713 from the blast. Phasma gave the call to retreat and ordered KM-8713 to report to her command shuttle to discuss the events of the day.[3]
When KM-8713 reported to Phasma within her shuttle, Phasma chastised KM-8713 for disobeying her order to abandon DB-7197 and inquired why they had assisted the fallen soldier. They described DB-7197 as a good soldier and thought it a waste to leave one behind. Phasma stated he was a dying soldier, but KM-8713 insisted he could have recovered. Phasma relented but argued that helping him had nearly cost their lives, and that it was impossible to help everyone on the battlefield, and that sacrifices must be made.[3]
Skills and abilities
- "DB-7197 was a good soldier."
"He was an adequate soldier with a rather sizable hole in him." - ―KM-8713 and Phasma
KM-8713 thought he was a good soldier, though Phasma insisted he was merely an acceptable soldier.[3]
Equipment
- "You are in my command. You are another gun I hold. If your aim isn't true. If you falter. Then you are no longer a gun. No longer worthy to be in my hand."
- ―Phasma
DB-7197 wore standard white First Order stormtrooper armor. During his assignment on Demir, his armor received a hole in its chest and his helmet was broken after Phasma threw him onto a thermal detonator.[3]

Notes and references
- ↑ 1.0 1.1 The events of Age of Resistance - Captain Phasma 1, which includes DB-7197's death on the planet Demir, occur sometime after Phasma forged her chromium armor and before her death. The novel Phasma establishes that Phasma forged her armor nine years before its main events, which are dated to 34 ABY by Star Wars: Timelines, meaning she must have constructed it in 25 ABY. Timelines also dates Phasma's death to 34 ABY, therefore meaning the events of Age of Resistance - Captain Phasma 1 must take place between 25 ABY and 34 ABY.
