The D'Nile system was located in the Hertae sector,[1] a part of the Slice portion of[2] the Mid Rim.[1]
Behind the scenes
The D'Nile system was introduced in the StarWars.com Online Companion to the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, which placed it in grid square Q-14.[1] The system's name references a misinterpretation[3] of a comment made by George Lucas,[4] the creator of the Star Wars franchise and the original and prequel trilogies of Star Wars films,[5] during an interview at the Celebration V convention on August 14, 2010. The comment, which stated "The core of his sense of loss is on that planet. It's called denial," served to elaborate on why Anakin Skywalker,[4] the central character of the original and prequel trilogies,[5] avoided his homeworld, the planet Tatooine.[4]
On August 26, 2010, however, Leland Chee, the keeper of Lucasfilm's Holocron continuity database, announced that, in response to the interview, a planet named "Denile" or "Denial" had been added to the database.[3] Furthermore, on March 26, 2011, Fry noted on the Jedi Council Forums of TheForce.net that a group of star systems included in the Online Companion, including the D'Nile system, referenced "established worlds."[6]
