Cygnats were biting pests native to[1] the planet[2] Thisspias. Dense hair,[1] like that of the Thisspiasian species also found on Thisspias,[3] deterred cygnats. The Thisspiasian Jedi Master Oppo Rancisis had a beard of dense hair that detered the pests.[1]

Cygnats were first mentioned in the 1999 reference book Star Wars: Episode I The Visual Dictionary, which was written by David West Reynolds.[1]
