A series of destructive and seemingly endless wars were fought[1] intermittently among the tribes[2] of the native Culroon of[1] the Wild Space[4] planet Culroon III[1] over many centuries prior to the Imperial Period. The conflicts prevented the Culroon from advancing technologically to the point of achieving space travel, and caused the Galactic Republic to avoid engaging with the planet. Offworld trade eventually introduced advanced weapons to the planet, which the warlike Culroon were eager to use.[2]

A Culroon warlord named Kloff eventually gained the upper hand in the wars,[2] ending them by using imported weapons to unite the planet under his control[1] by 9 BBY.[3] At some point following the Republic's transformation into the Galactic Empire[1] in 19 BBY,[5] Emperor Palpatine ordered Culroon III to be occupied,[1] which included the construction of a garrison in Kloff's territory.[2] Kloff later mounted an insurrection against the Empire but was defeated.[1]

Behind the scenes

The wars on Culroon III were first mentioned in the short story "The Promotion of Lieutenant Veers," published in 1987's The Star Wars Sourcebook written by Bill Slavicsek and Curtis Smith.[1]

Therefore, the latest year that Veers could have been born would be 9 BBY, and the Culroon wars must have come to a conclusion by that date.
