CryoBan, also stylized Cryoban,^[2] was a chemical agent that absorbed heat quickly, creating intense cold at the point of detonation.^[3] The agent was originally developed as a fire suppressant,^[4] and it broke down quickly, releasing the heat back into the environment.^[5]

Organic beings exposed to CryoBan experienced numbing cold,^[3] which stunned them and caused severe nerve and cellular damage to any exposed skin.^[4] The areas could be treated with bacta, but unless it was immediately applied, the individual was likely to lose a limb or suffer nerve damage.^[3]

CryoBan was also effective at destroying electronics, vehicles, and droids if they were not sufficiently adapted to operate in cold-weather environments.^[3]

Weapons technology using CryoBan used elements adapted from the carbon-freezing process to freeze targets. Weapons made using this technology included CryoBan rifles, CryoBan grenades and CryoBan cells.
