Crash Pit Three was a crash pit operated at the Sarnus Refinery, an ore refining complex operated by the businessman Lando Calrissian on the planet Sarnus in the Chiloon Rift during the era of the Galactic Alliance. Via a process known as "The Drop", asteroid fragment were released from the planetary atmosphere to fall onto Crash Pit Three and the facility's other crash pits, from where they were transported away for processing. In 45 ABY, owing to sabotage by the refinery's operations chief Dena Yus—a spy for the corporation Galactic Exploitation Technologies—asteroid drops to Crash Pits Three and Six were undertaken without protective tractor beams in place, leading to the destruction of the refinery.[1]
