- "Good heavens! Artoo reports they are directing beamed ultrasonics at each of us in turn. He suggests they are probing our internal structures in order to decide which of us might be good to eat!"
- ―C-3PO
The corridor ghoul was a mutated, eyeless, dog-like creature in Coruscant's dangerous undercity. They were discovered by New Republic Intelligence when they were scouting locations underground for possible 'safe houses'. After initial encounters, they learned to leave the corridor ghouls alone, who served as a form of natural defense system against intruders. In appearance, the ghouls were quadrupedal animals that stood about a meter tall with pale skin, long legs, large ears, long muzzles and teeth, and no visible eyes. They had a strong sense of smell and navigated by echolocation, using high-pitched, human-like screams in both the human auditory range and the ultrasonic range in concert with their ears to locate prey. They were clever, eager hunters with a strong constitution and minds sharp and direct enough to be resistant to Jedi mind tricks that relied on simple misdirection, and prone to attacking when cornered. They often appeared in groupings of three or more.[1]
