Corellian Technologies was an armor manufacturer specializing in personal defense systems.[2]

Two of the armors they produced included the A3AA personal defense module, which lacked in physical protection but had an emission field which repelled blaster shots, and a HuntSuit, which cost about 2,900 credits.[2]

History

During the Galactic Civil War, Corellian Technologies specialized in developing new personal defense systems. To test one such prototype,[1] in 1 ABY,[4] the engineers attached the system to a protocol droid and sent him into remote wilderness on Corellia. Unfortunately, the prototype was not able to protect the droid form wild creatures. A group of freelance spacers was later recruited to hunt the animals and recover the prototype.[1] During a similar test, the protocol droid carrying the personal defense system prototype was destroyed by some criminals who stole the prototype. In order to prevent industrial espionage, the spacers were then sent to blast the gangster base and destroy the prototype.[5]

After the Battle of Yavin, Corellian Technologies got contract to build tursturin-powered repulsorlifts for a cloud city in the Expansion Region.[6] However, in 1 ABY,[4], industrial saboteurs tried to steal the company's tursturin supplies. As the company did not want to involve local or Imperial law enforcement agencies to avoid questions about the tursturin's provenance, they hired an independent strike team to destroy the saboteurs and their stronghold on Corellia.[6]

In 1 ABY,[4] the company was contracted by Darth Vader to manufacture hyperdrives for the Galactic Empire. However, a shipment of repulsor-compensators needed in the process was stolen by criminals. The thieves were running a cloaking shield for their smuggling ship from a ground station on Corellia. Again, Corellian Technologies recruited independent spacers to deal with the criminals, strike the station and locate the stolen shipment.[7]

The same year, Corellian Technologies contracted the Bounty Hunters' Guild to eliminate one of its former executive who swindled the company.[8]

Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
