"A small-time gang of thieves, the Cobral."
Yondalla, to a spacer[5]

The Neo-Cobral, or Cobral for short, was a criminal organization active on Rori during the Galactic Civil War.

History

"Without people like you helping, the Cobrals will eventually come up with some dastardly plan that will have all of Rori under their control."
―A commoner, to a spacer[3]

The organization was established by former members of the Cobral, a group of smugglers and black market dealers founded by the Cobral family who took over the planetary government of the planet Frego,[1] in the Core Worlds,[6] during the last decades of the Old Republic. The Cobrals lost control over Frego when one of the children of the family, Solan Cobral, killed his brother Rutin to ensure his place as head of the family.[4] After the Cobrals leaders were imprisoned, some of its members relocated to Naboo's moon of Rori which became their base of operations.[1] Their objective was the domination of the moon.[3] In addition to criminal activities, the Cobral tried desperately to get their former leaders out of prison.[1]

By the time of the Battle of Yavin, the Neo-Cobrals were based in a bunker located a short distance of the city of Restuss and were led by an individual known as the Cobral Overlord.[3] The Neo-Cobrals were in open conflict with the Restuss Brigade.[7]

In 1 ABY,[8] a commoner in Narmle intended to recruit adventurers to assault the Cobral Hideout and eliminate the Cobral Overlord.[3] The same year, Lieutenant Orden Tarc of the Royal Naboo Security Forces tasked a spacer with interrogating Neo-Cobrals at a small base near Narmle for information about the Aqualish criminal Ponda Baba they but did not know much about him.[9]

  8. The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
