The Clone mortar[2] was a short-range weapon utilised by the Grand Army of the Republic. The weapon launched explosive projectiles upon targets at a close distance along an arcing trajectory. In 20 BBY,[3] during the Battle of Umbara, the 501st Legion used the weapon to attack what they believed to be native Umbarans, but they subsequently realized that they had been deceived into attacking their own men from the 212th Attack Battalion.[1]
