The clawbird or stana (as natives called it) was a black-feathered avian from Wayland that ate the flesh of dead animals and aliens.

The clawbirds were among Wayland's species affected by the sabotaged Ossus Project. One attempted to scavenge the unconscious body of Cade Skywalker. Upon waking, however, he tamed the creature and used it to find his friend Deliah Blue, who had been abducted by the One Sith on the planet.
