The B1 battle droid, a unit often called a "clanker"
Clanker was a slang term used by clone troopers to describe B1-series battle droids[2] and other battle droids[1] characterized by a distinctive "clanking" sound produced by their joints and metallic frames during movement.[3] The term was occasionally used to denote to other droids as well; for example, Clone Captain Rex referred to 4A-7 as a "clanker."[4] The term "clanker" was used to describe all types of droids within the Separatist Droid Army in Geonosian Debriefings, Vol. III.[1]
