Clan Shale was a respected Mandalorian clan active during the third Galactic War. At some point, Clan Shale faced a critical conflict with the newly risen Clan Nerak, leading to a dramatic duel between their leaders, ultimately preserving their clan's honor.[1]
History
The ancient clan Shale found itself in conflict with Clan Nerak, led by its new hotheaded leader Ballag. Tensions escalated as members of Clan Shale were murdered in cold blood by Clan Nerak in the hopes of challenging the respected clan.[1]
Around 3626 BBY,[2] on the planet Geonosis, Arbiter Jekiah Ordo intervened into the matter before it could grow worse in the midst of Mandalore the Avenger's hunt for Field Marshal Heta Kol. Jekiah Ordo arranged a duel between Ballag and Arla Shale to finally settle the dispute, but added in that if either side lost, their clan would be destroyed. Though shocking many, the terms were accepted and it created a new graveness into the situation as not since Clan Cadera's rebellion that a clan has been completely wiped out by Mandalorian hands.[1]
During the duel, Ballag initially had the upper hand, wounding Arla. However, Arla managed to recover, adapt, and turned the fight around. In the end, the veteran Mandalorian woman had Ballag at her mercy, though instead of having the entire clan destroyed or Ballag killed, the duel ended in a draw.[1] Later, Ballag became associated with the Duneclaw gang, siding with Heta Kol and the Hidden Chain rebels who intended to challenge the authority of Mandalore the Avenger.
