A class of destroyer was utilized by the Unknown Regions Chiss Ascendancy nation's Expansionary Defense Fleet. Chiss destroyers were equipped with engines and a hyperdrive, and possessed electrostatic barriers for shields. Its weaponry included spectrum lasers, plasma spheres and breacher missiles[1] and the hull was constructed of nyix-alloy.[2] In 19 BBY,[3] several of these ships participated in a battle over the Vak Combine nation planet of Primea against the Nikardun Destiny hegemony as part of Admiral Ar'alani's Picket Force Six.[1]
By 18 BBY,[4] the pilot of the Xodlak family frigate Midsummer had served aboard a Chiss destroyer as its third pilot before being recalled by the family to serve aboard the family warship.[5]
Behind the scenes
Chiss destroyers first appeared in the 2020 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rising, the first installment of Timothy Zahn's Star Wars: The Ascendancy Trilogy.[1]
