Biology and appearance
This humanoid sentient species was distinguished by their elongated faces, with small noses, pointed ears, and tall philtrums.[1]
Species in the galaxy
During the High Republic Era, a member of this species, Cherff Maota, served as a Jedi Master within the Jedi Order.[3] By 34 ABY,[4] Maota was immortalized via decorative busts, one of which ended up in the possess of Maz Kanata at her castle on the planet Takodana.[1]
Behind the scenes
The species made their debut via a bust in the 2015 film Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, directed by J.J. Abrams.[1] In the movie's novelization, the private collection of Kanata notably includes what is described as "a bust of some unknown bearded human."[5] Maota's bust, however, clearly has non-human features.[2]
