Biography
An unknown weapon
- "We found an encrypted reference in the sub-tertiary datacore... Captain Cesar?"
"Apparently, Operation: Titan is being conducted off two different planets. The operation is being overseen on Enthenium." - ―Anakin Skywalker and Cesar briefing Yoda
Created on the planet Kamino,[1] Cesar was a clone trooper who fought for the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars against the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Cesar served as a Clone Captain[4] of Company 326 in the Grand Army of the Republic.[3] In 19 BBY,[2] Captain Cesar and the troops of Company 326 joined forces with Jedi General Anakin Skywalker to confiscate a Separatist Munificent-class frigate. They relayed their success to Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi, who brought their acquisition to the attention of the Jedi Council during a discussion of a new Separatist weapon under the name of Operation: Titan.[4]
Aboard the Munificent-class frigate, Cesar and Skywalker were joined by Jedi Master Yoda. Having swept the ship's systems, Cesar informed Yoda that Operation: Titan was being conducted on two planets, though only one of the planets was known to be Enthenium. To obtain more information of Operation: Titan, they set course to Enthenium in the Western Reaches. Arriving at the planet, they land at Docking Port 4587 of a Separatist base. As Master Yoda infiltrated the base, Captain Cesar and General Skywalker remained aboard the frigate where they eventually became overwhelmed by battle droids. Outgunned, Cesar suggested they fall back, however Skywalker insisted they wait for Yoda to return. As Cesar and Skywalker continued to fight, Yoda eventually rejoined them and destroyed the remaining droids. With the information they needed gathered by Master Yoda, they fled the planet before Separatist reinforcements arrived. Having escaped, Yoda ordered Cesar to scuttle the frigate as the Separatists would be able to track their own ship. Yoda then informed Cesar and Skywalker that the weapon of Operation: Titan were megadroids and were being constructed on the planet Golatha.[4]
Valley of death
- "Krit. This isn't a valley... it's a killbox."
- ―Cesar
Aboard a Venator-class Star Destroyer, Cesar and the troops of Company 326 set a course for the planet Golatha. Accompanied by Master Yoda and General Anakin Skywalker, they relayed Skywalker's plan to take out the factory to the Jedi Council as they approached the Golatha Nebula. Landing via LAAT gunships, Cesar, Skywalker, Yoda, and the troops of Company 326 arrived on the planet's rocky landscape at the top of a nearby valley. Cesar stayed at the landing site with the rest of Company 326 as Skywalker and Yoda scouted the local terrain in search of the factory. Determining that the factory must be located somewhere underground, the two Jedi returned to the contingent of clones and ordered Captain Cesar to prepare the troops for decent into the valley. With Yoda and Skywalker, Cesar led Company 326 on foot to the bottom of the valley.[3]
Walking though the base of the valley, General Skywalker mentioned how quiet it was, which was immediately met with blaster fire from Separatist forces. Captain Cesar and the troops of Company 326 began opening fire at the hidden assailants as Skywalker and Yoda deflected the oncoming blaster bolts with their lightsabers. Amidst the firefight, Cesar realized that the valley was a killbox just before being fatally shot in the chest. As Cesar laid on the ground, Skywalker came to comfort the dying captain. Cesar apologized to Skywalker, to which the general stated it wasn't Cesar's fault. Cesar then instructed Skywalker to give them hell before succumbing to his wound.[3]
Equipment
Cesar wore white Phase II clone trooper armor with sections of dark orange. Cesar's helmet was adorned with yellow and dark orange markings. Cesar also had three pouches which they carried in front of their chest. Cesar wielded two blaster pistols[4] and a blaster rifle.[3]
Behind the scenes
Cesar first appeared in the seventh issue of the comic miniseries Star Wars: Yoda. Within issue seven, Cesar is referred to with the rank of captain, then with the rank of commander.[4] Since the eighth issue of the miniseries also refers to Cesar with the rank of captain, this article assumes that captain is Cesar's correct rank.[3] Also in the seventh issue, Cesar appears to have blond colored hair at the beginning of the story, but then is shown to have black colored hair by the end.[4] As such, this article assumes that Cesar's correct hair color is black due to only being depicted with black hair in the eighth issue of the miniseries.[3]
