Carnovia

Carnovia was a humid waterworld located in the Carnovia system, a part of the Hutt Space portion of the Slice. The Kaaga Run hyperlane linked it to the Circumtore and Nar Kaaga systems. The depths of Carnovia were inhabited by gigantic creatures known as the Carnovian eels. On that world,^[1] many^[2] beings enslaved by members of the Hutt species worked at pens where young Carnovian eels were raised due to the Hutts considering them delicacies.^[1] Besides eel farming, Carnovia was also known for the production of foodstuffs in general.^[2]

Carnovia served as the base of operations of the Hutt Vermilic clan, and the Floating Palace of the clan's leader Minalod was situated at the center of a large lake and was surrounded by eel pens of various depths. The Vermilic kidnapped scientists from enslaved species to develop counterfeit versions of in-demand processed foods, which the Hutts then distributed in the galaxy. The best of those scientists worked and lived at the Floating Palace.^[2]

Carnovia originated—via a mention of the Carnovian eel—in the 1998 novel Rebel Dawn by A. C. Crispin.^[4] It was later established as a world by The Essential Atlas, a 2009 reference book co-authored by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, which placed it in grid square S-12.^[1] In a 2009 article published on Suvudu.com, Fry noted that Carnovia was chosen for inclusion on the book's map of Hutt Space due to being associated with the Hutts and thereby increasing the region's recognizability to the reader.^[3]
