- "You have an eye for treasure, Gunda, yet no stomach for slaughter."
- ―Carabba's opinion on Gunda
Carabba was a male pirate captain who lead the Blazing Claw when the Aqualish Gunda Mabin served them as a cabin pup. At one point he shoved the pirate Patchwork Fiddich's cheek against the muzzle of a blaster, peeling skin from flesh and scarring him in a ritual known as the Burning. Every day the captain told Mabin that she had no stomach for slaughter, but a good eye for treasure, even long after she had risen to the rank of mate. She eventually killed him as he was talking with a blade between the ribs, spilling his insides across the deck. Following his demise, Mabin donned Carabba's black cap and took over as leader of the Blazing Claw.[1] By 10 BBY,[2] she wrote about him in the book that would become known as the Smuggler's Guide, admitting he had been right about her eye for treasure, but misjudged her capacity for slaughter.[1]
Behind the scenes
Carabba was first mentioned in the 2018 reference book Star Wars: Smuggler's Guide, which was written by Daniel Wallace.[1]

- ↑ The entry in Star Wars: Smuggler's Guide mentioning Captain Carabba is placed chronologically prior to an entry written by the criminal Tobias Beckett. Solo: A Star Wars Story depicts Beckett's death on the planet Savareen, and Solo: A Star Wars Story The Official Guide dates the events on Savareen in the film to nine years after the proclamation of the New Order. As Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates the proclamation to 19 BBY, Beckett's death must occur in 10 BBY, and so his entry in the guide and those chronologically before it must all be set prior to or during 10 BBY.
