The CAP-2 Captivator was a model of walker employed by the Galactic Empire[1] and bounty hunters.[2] Able to fit one pilot, the CAP-2 Captivator walked on two legs, with the pilot standing upright in a bubble-enclosed canopy. Two mechanical arms ending in remote-operated claws extended from the front of the vehicle with a blaster cannon mounted between them, and a large mechanism on the back held prisoners for transport.[1] The CAP-2 Captivator's feet contained sensors for spying on its prey.[2]
During the Galactic Civil War fought by the Empire against the Rebel Alliance, Imperial spies used the CAP-2 Captivator to capture unsuspecting Rebels.[1] Bounty hunters often also used the walkers to capture their targets. Bossk was one such bounty hunter who used a CAP-2 Captivator for that purpose.[2]
Behind the scenes
The CAP-2 Captivator was created in 1982 for Kenner's Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back toy line. The figure's packaging showed Bossk using the walker to capture Rebel Colonel Ledick Firest and deliver[1] him[3] to the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader.[1]
