Buruunin was a planet[2] located in the Atravis sector of the Outer Rim Territories.[1] At one point during the reign of the Galactic Empire, Buruunin fell out of favor with the Emperor Palpatine, after which a planet-wide military operation followed. The attack was led by General Cascaan, who sincerely believed that they were bringing order to the galaxy. Nevertheless, on Buruunin, he was ordered to bomb undefended cities. Cascaan understood that carrying out such a vile order was wrong and would only spread fear among the people, but his sense of duty to the Empire, combined with a feeling of helplessness, forced him to begin the operation. Afterward, there were countless collaborators. They, refugees by their very nature, came to every Imperial-built outpost, mewling and crying, saying that they had information for sale – where the rebels had been hiding, who had aided them, and where their weapon caches were. For a few credits, they would have informed on their own relatives. The events on Buruunin had a profound effect on Cascaan, and from then on, he began to cooperate with the anti-Imperial underground movement.[2]
