The bunta tree was a type of tree that grew on the planet Brendok. Its yellow leaves were used to create a dark poison sharing its name.[1] A bunta tree near Brendok fortress also had bright blue fungal growths and the ancient tree stood out in Brendok's mossy forests.[2]
Behind the scenes
- "Storywise, the script called for a 'waterfall/special place' where the girls could go to be away from the fortress I looked for waterfalls and other places and none of them said, 'why would you go there?' So in looking around locations, there was this forest that was all pine trees but had one dead oak tree in the middle of it. I kind of got interested in that and wondered if we might make a 'space willow tree' out of it. And so that tree is actually there, and the yellow is there, but we put it all on it. So technically we made that tree."
- ―Production designer Kevin Jenkins
A dead oak tree in the Cadlan Woods of the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons) in Wales was decorated with yellow-leafed branches for the willow-like effect of the bunta tree.[3]
