- "I let my saber training take over. Muscles moved by themselves as I unconsciously ran the sweeping and batting exercise that is blaster deflection."
- ―Bultar Swan
This green-bladed lightsaber belonged to Jedi Knight Bultar Swan.[1]
Behind the scenes
The lightsaber debuted in the[2] second prequel trilogy[5] film Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones,[2] which was released on May 16, 2002.[5] The saber was first previewed in the trailer for Attack of the Clones,[6] which released earlier in the year on March 10.[7] In the current Star Wars canon, the lightsaber was identified in all capital letters as "Bultar Swan's lightsaber" in the 2017 reference book Star Wars: The Visual Encyclopedia.[1] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the weapon was also identified in all capital letters as "Bultar Swan's lightsaber" in the reference book Star Wars: Attack of the Clones: The Visual Dictionary, which was written by David West Reynolds[8] and published on April 23, 2002.[9]
Concept art for Bultar Swan, which included her lightsaber, was drafted by[10] Lucasfilm concept artist[2] Dermot Power in 2000.[10] The scenes for the arena battle with the Jedi on Geonosis, which used lightsaber props that included Swan's, were filmed on Stage 3 at Fox Studios, Sydney, between August 10 and August 15, 2000. The lightsabers used for the battle were made of aluminum and were bent and repaired during filming.[11]
