- "We were at our watching post. It was getting dark, so we were waiting for Oggro to come. He can see better in the dark, so he's been taking the night shifts."
- ―Broon, to Qi'ra
Broon was a human male scrumrat of the White Worms gang on the Core Worlds planet Corellia. Around 13 BBY, they and the fellow human scrumrat Fixit helped prepare for a raid on a Corellia shipyard by monitoring the facility in shifts, often taking turns with the Rodian scrumrat Oggro.
In one instance, when Imperial stormtroopers exited a hangar and began scanning the area around the shipyard, Broon and their companion fled back to the den of the White Worms to tell someone, not waiting for Oggro to replace them at their posting. The pair told the older scrumrat Qi'ra of the situation, with Broon indicating they had not yet told the Rodian what they had learned. After promising to pass on the information, she dismissed the boys for dinner.
History
- "I have an important update about the shipyard."
"What is it?"
"Two of our scouts reported a heavy Imperial presence. They must have come to pick up the control boards earlier than we expected." - ―Qi'ra, to Proxima, about Broon and Fixit's shipyard report
The human male Broon lived on[1] the Core Worlds[2] planet Corellia during the Imperial Era. They eventually joined the White Worms criminal gang as a scrumrat thief and lived within their Coronet City den under Head scrumrat Ema's management, alongside several other orphans.[1] Around 13 BBY,[3] the White Worms prepared to raid a Corellia shipyard to steal control boards under the orders of their leader, Lady Proxima, who hoped the endeavor would result in the deaths of several of her older scrumrats so she could thin her ranks.[1]
After discovering stormtroopers at the shipyard, Broon informed Qi'ra of what they had seen.
As one of the group's younger scrumrats, Broon paired off with the fellow human scrumrat Fixit to monitor the shipyard as a scout. The boys took shifts at a watching post during the day, while the Rodian scrumrat Oggro would come to relieve the boys and take the night shift. One time, while waiting for the Rodian to take their place, they and their partner were surprised to see a large group of Imperial stormtroopers scanning the nearby area as they marched out of the facility's hangar. Broon and Fixit fled their post and returned to the White Worms' den to inform someone of the information, not waiting for Oggro to replace them.[1]
Broon and Fixit explained the pair's situation to the older scrumrat Qi'ra, with the former explaining that they had not told Oggro what they had learned. Qi'ra thanked them and sent the boys to acquire dinner, offering to pass the information on to Proxima. Though she then reported the boys' report about Imperial stormtroopers, Proxima berated her for questioning their plan and dismissed the scouts' claims. Not long afterward, the White Worms executed the raid and took heavy scrumrat losses. Afterward, Qi'ra informed Sarkin Enneb—an enslaver who had purchased her—about Broon and Fixit's warning of Imperials at the shipyard, indicating that Proxima had ignored the information.[1]
Personality and traits
- "Did you tell Oggro?"
"We didn't see him. We thought it was more important to get back and tell someone." - ―Qi'ra and Broon
Thinking that not all scrumrats would have made that decision, Qi'ra mentally commended Broon for reporting the Imperial presence despite having to leave their post to do so. By the time of the shipyard raid, the scrumrat had a young appearance.[1]
Behind the scenes
Broon appeared in Crimson Climb, a 2023 young-adult novel written by E. K. Johnston.[1]
