- "It so happens I might know where you might find that ship. Name's the First Light, and you can find it on landing platform IIB8. Might want to hurry, though…"
- ―Fennix, to the freelance agents he met in Botcha's
Botcha's was a bar that operated on the planet Druckenwell during the latter years of the Galactic Republic. The establishment was often frequented by the Besalisk infochant Fenix. Around 21 BBY, a group of freelance agents searching for the stolen freighter First Light ventured to Botcha's to seek to information on the vessel's whereabouts from Fenix.
Description
Botcha's was a bar situated in a factory district of the planet Druckenwell. The bar teemed with activity and at all times of day and was filled with a variety of working class beings of different backgrounds and professions. A layer of haze permeated throughout the bar, which was the result of a combination of alcohol, sweat and other substances. Outside the front of the bar was a worn, poorly-maintained neon sign displaying the name of the bar, but which was missing several letters and announced the establishment incorrectly as "Bo-c-s."[1]
Inside, Botcha's had tables for its patrons to sit at and a bar area from which alcoholic beverages could be purchased. During the waning years of the Galactic Republic, the bar was attended by a trio of Ugnaught bartenders whose clothing was so stained that the original colors were difficult to determine. A raised walkway was included behind the bar, upon which the diminutive Ugnaughts stood to provide them sufficient reach to pass drinks to the establishment's patrons. The Ugnaughts stared and and made derisory comments to any male patrons of the bar that they considered to be feminine in appearance. Drink prices at the bar ranged from two to ten credits.[1]
History
- "Thing's been quiet, late—too quiet. I think something big is going on, just under the surface. I can't put my finger on it, but mark me—there's something heatin' up."
- ―Fenix, to the freelance agents he met in Botcha's
The bar was a favored haunt of the Besalisk infochant Fenix.[1] One day in around 21 BBY,[2] Fennix ventured to Botcha's to drink and he sat at a table at the back of the bar with two guests, a Gran female and a Rodian male, where the Besalisk proceeded to become very inebriated. A group of freelance agents from the Cularin system ventured to Botcha's in search of Fennix, seeking information regarding the whereabouts of the stolen freighter First Light. After the operatives bought him a drink, Fennix dismissed his two companions and invited the agents to sit with him. They bartered to agree a price for the Besalisk's information and the infochant then disclosed to the agents the location of the First Light and provided intelligence regarding recent developments on Druckenwell.[1]
Behind the scenes
Botcha's appeared within Star Wars Legends continuity in Outward Bound, a 2002 roleplaying adventure by Morrie Mullins and Lee Pickler that formed part of the Looking In trilogy of RPGA's Living Force campaign. The adventure advises that the bar should be depicted during role-play as having an atmosphere similar to the Outlander Club, a bar that featured in the film Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones.[1]

- ↑ The Living Force Campaign Guide states that the Living Force campaign is set one year after the Invasion of Naboo, an event that is dated to 32 BBY by The New Essential Chronology. As the Living Force adventure Philology moved the campaign forward ten years to the time of the Clone Wars, Outward Bound is therefore dated to circa 21 BBY.
